What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. CBD, unlike THC, is non-psychoactive and won't get users high. Cannabidiol was actually discovered in the 1940s, but it wasn't until this past decade that CBD has eliminated its negative stigma of being associated with marijuana. Many medical professionals have even began recommending CBD to help patients cope with various health conditions. You can buy CBD in a number of different forms, including CBD tinctures, CBD gel caps and pills, CBD topical products and more.

Is CBD legal?

The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp (defined as having less than 0.3% THC) legal. Each state also has its own law regarding the legality of CBD and therefore the legality of CBD products can vary from state to state.

Are CBD and marijuana from the same cannabis plant?

No, CBD and marijuana come from different plants. They do, however, come from the same species of cannabis plant. There are three recognized species of cannabis plants—Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica and Cannabis ruderalis. Both CBD and marijuana are derived from the Cannabis sativa species. While CBD and marijuana both come from the same species of the cannabis plant, they are derived from different species of Cannabis sativa. CBD is derived from hemp, while marijuana is derived from the marijuana species.

Can I fly with CBD?

According to the TSA, CBD/hemp products can now be taken both in carry-on and checked bags–as long as they have less than 0.3% THC. If you are traveling internationally, we recommend checking local law regarding the legality of CBD products.

Can I take these products while pregnant or nursing?

We always recommend consulting your healthcare professional before taking any of our products during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. This is standard for almost any supplement one incorporates into their health & wellness routine where there isn't enough studies specifically examining its use during pregnancy or in breastfeeding women.

Why is a tincture a good way to ingest CBD?

By ingesting sublingually (under the tongue where many capillaries reside), the active ingredient of a tincture—in this case, hemp-derived CBD—reaches the bloodstream more quickly and bypasses absorption barriers like the intestines for maximum efficacy.

How much tincture should I take?

The standard serving size of our tinctures is 1/4 mL. Generally speaking, it is common for users to begin with 1 serving and increase the number of servings consumed at a time until a desired effect is achieved. Determining the “ideal” number of servings for an individual depends on several factors, including body chemistry, weight, health, prescription medications, sensitivity to CBD and desired effect.

What is CBD used for? What are the benefits of CBD?

A CBD regimen is said to encourage ideal mind-body balance and an overall sense of wellness. A lot of people associate CBD with mind-body balance, wellness and calm. It’s also often chosen to encourage evening relaxation, restful sleep or post-exercise relief.

How does CBD work?

To understand CBD, we always start by talking about the endocannabinoid system or “ECS.” The ECS is a complex system in the human body that is understood to modulate all physiological processes throughout the brain and body, including the management of appetite, pain, sleep and mood. The purpose of this system is whole-body homeostasis (or balance), the optimal state for maintaining health and natural healing. Cannabinoids like CBD interact with the ECS by binding directly or indirectly to ECS receptors and acting like chemical messengers to turn on or turn off physiologic signaling in the body. Whole-body homeostasis means the body can concentrate on what it does best: natural healing and an overall sense of wellness.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are natural compounds that serve a variety of purposes, including forming a plant’s distinctive flavor and aroma profile, which can range from earthy and pungent to sweet and fruity. Though terpenes are found throughout nature, the plant family cannabaceae is unique because it can express a wide variety of terpenes to create complex and distinctive flavor profiles.

Differences between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and Isolate

CBD is one of the most famous hemp compounds, but it’s far from the only one—hemp has 58 non-psychoactive compounds called cannabinoids.

  • Isolate CBD only contains the CBD cannabinoid, so you can have a pure CBD experience.
  • Broad Spectrum feature a multitude of non-psychoactive cannabinoids that create synergy within your body when they work together.
  • Full Spectrum CBD is CBD that still contains naturally-occurring organic compounds. This includes a trace amount of THC (.3%) and other terpenes that the plant grows with. The amount of THC and Terpenes in full spectrum CBD is not enough to create a psychoactive result but we also understand that these are not ingredients everyone wants.

Will CBD get me high?

Unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating and non-euphorigenic. Hemp-derived CBD contains only trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), so tinctures derived from it are not likely to produce THC effects either. If you feel you have an adverse experience, stop using the tincture immediately, seek medical attention if warranted and consult with a trusted medical professional. If an altered state or drowsiness is experienced, it’s important to avoid driving, operating heavy machinery or using sharp or other dangerous tools.

What are the possible side effects?

Some individuals have reported “altered” states of mind, light-headedness, imbalance and drowsiness at varying serving amounts… and at very high amounts, some users have reported gastrointestinal (GI) upset. It is not clear whether these effects are due to placebo, the CBD or possibly other plant compounds. People who are concerned about drowsiness or other effects can take it in the evening or before bed.

Will my body build a tolerance?

With CBD, more is not always more. Research suggests that the effects can lessen when using too much and/or too often. When CBD is used for notable effects and the effects are no longer appreciated, it may be beneficial to cease use for 2-3 days. This is typically enough time for the body to reset and any notable effects to return.

Will this react with my prescription medications?

We always recommend consulting your healthcare professional before taking any of our products with prescription medications.

Will I Fail a Drug Test If I Use CBD Oil?

It depends on the testing standards of the lab administering your drug test. Most companies only search for the THC cannabinoid, which is the main psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. If you have concerns with regards to THC, then we recommend using only the ISOLATE CBD products. However, there are some testing facilities that check for a spectrum of cannabinoids that could trigger a positive drug test. You can always contact the lab to verify what exactly will be tested.

How can I guarantee the legitimacy of the CBD you offer?

One of our objectives is to guarantee our customers they are getting the best CBD products on the market. So we ensure all the products with CBD we offer have been third-party lab tested. This guarantees the amount of CBD and THC (less .03%), and that they are free of contaminants like heavy metals, bacteria, microbial life, mycotoxins and pesticides.
